Project title
Colloidal decorated lignin and wood reassembly
(Co)tutors
- Tutor: C. Crestini (UNIVE)
- Co-Tutor: T. Stern (UG)
- Industrial Supervisor: J. Lindner (BASF)
Objectives
- Synthesise lignin colloid systems by a microfluidics process (nanoparticles and microcapsules);
- Synthesise lignin colloid systems from dynamically cross-linked and hydrophobized lignins
- Synthesise of lignin colloid systems with active loadings providing self-healing, antioxidant, antimicrobial and moisture barrier properties;
- Exploit the developed colloidal systems i) for wood reassembly; ii) to investigate possible resins formulations with self-healing, anti-corrosive properties
Required education level
Master's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Environmental Chemistry
Preferred background
Lignin chemistry, polymer chemistry and physical chemistry, microfluidics
Secondments
-
RUG (3 months) integration of colloids in flow fractionation process (P. Deuss)
-
BASF (8 months) colloids analytics (J. Lindner)
