Tutors

  • Tutor: V. Placet (UMLP)
  • Co-Tutor: K. Barta (UG)
  • Industrial Supervisor: W. Bottger (NPSP)

Objectives

  • Develop plant fibre-reinforced lignin-derived epoxy polymer composites suitable for structural and multifunctional applications (construction and transportation sectors);
  • To assess their moisture sensitivity and durability
  • To determine by experimental and numerical approach the influence of moisture absorption on the shear stresses at the interface between plant fibres and lignin-derived epoxy polymers, and on the damage initiation and propagation
  • To evaluate their recyclability and the performance of the recycled composites.
  • To investigate the industrial feasibility of the most promising plant composites

Secondments

  • UNIVE (4 months) development of recyclable epoxy resins and polyurethanes for composite applications (C. Crestini)
  • NPSP (6 months) development of industrially relevant applications of the recyclable high-strength composites (W. Bottger)
